Revisiting the KSK

After last post's brief look at the KSK I decided I wasn't entirely happy with how they turned out. As it turned out, Black Guardian over at The Guild quite helpfully pointed out they were missing the all-important brown palette from their camo, so I decided to add some, as well as highlight the flesh a bit more.

Also, because I have nowhere else to put them, here is a Zvezda Metis-M team I did up in the interim. Please ignore the rogue static grass bits :P

Ultramodern Russian Mega Update

So, I've been something of a busy beaver of late. I'm moving at the end of the year, so I've developed the desire to get through as many kits as possible until then. Apologies for the formatting, Blogger was being....difficult

This round is a whole bunch of ultra modern Russian armor, enjoy!

First up, I decided to strip last week's BTR-80A and repaint it in brighter colors, I think it turned out better this round :)

Next up, a dreaded ACE BMP-2 with brass detailing. Thankfully I only want one of these!

I also did some Elhiem  KSK for a laugh for shenanagins in the Ukraine or some other foresty theatre

Dabbled with the Model Collect T-90MS kit. Experimented with one of the more peculiar Russian camo schemes with this one.

Last, but definitely not least, I had a go at one of the thermobarric TOS-1A monster. Apparently ISIS jacked one of these in Iraq this week!

Comment posting fixed?

I've had a number of emails from people telling me my comments section has been wonky, as such I've turned off the code verification process to see if this changes anything.

So, uh, leave a comment?

BIG Syrian tanks

Continuing my forays into the scale of my birth, I picked up a couple more 28mm vehicles, the T-72 from Imprint now Empress and the Shilka from HLBS.

Considering my usual scales, do these count as superheavy?

The T-72 was a marked improvement over the one I had previously worked on from a kit last time - both in terms of scaling with infantry, as well as just the proportions and details. I added a few bits and bobs just for zazz: fuel barrels, headlight cowls, MG sight, new barrel as well as removing the smoke launchers, as I've never been a huge fan on their placement on the T-72A.

The Shilka was equally fantastic - the barrels were actually constructed from brass, making them super durable! Really neat.

And now for something scifi: M557A3 Scout APC

A while ago I picked up companies worth of Antenocitis workshop's Aliens style APCs. Since then they have largely sat in their box collecting dust. I decided to do up a scout variant just to feel productive and cause it looked neat!

Getting BTR all the time

Today's update is a BTR-80A, another one of my favorites! Really has that ultramodern scifi look about it.

BMD time? BMD time

 photo BMD1.jpg

The BMD is quite possibly my favorite vehicle concept in existence; a tiny, heavily armed transport that can be hurled out the back of an airplane and supplies airborne forces with much needed firepower. Of course, the Russians have proliferated this vehicle, and when I figured I was once again embarking on another ultramodern adventure in 20mm, I decided my force needed at least one of these.

Unfortunately this meant dealing with ACE, but I felt this was a price worth paying. The kit was a bit arduous to assemble but the ultimate result was worth it. I did it up in the ubiquitous three-tone woodland camo that looks so sexy on Russian armor. I also updated it a bit, replacing the AT-4 with a AT-14 Kornet.

Apparently they can fit seven people in there. Who knew?
